The El Dorado County Office of Education (EDCOE) provides alternative educational settings for students having
difficulty meeting the academic, social, and behavioral standards necessary to be successful in a traditional school.
The County Community School, known as Mountainside Success Academy, is a program available to our
community’s diverse student population. District Principals will work in partnership with the Principal of this program to
discuss the placement of students based on their needs.

A student may be referred to MSA for consideration upon meeting one or more of the conditions listed below (EC
48662). The referral types are listed in placement priority order and are dependent on a variety of factors, including
available space. District and parents should be made aware that the students may need to be returned to their district
of residence mid-year if space is needed for higher priority placement(s); e.g., expelled or Probation-referred students:
1. Expelled for any reason. Involuntary Transfer Request. (See Expulsion Guidelines)
2. Referred by Probation pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code 300 and/or Welfare and Institutions Code
602.
3. Referred by a district, voluntary transfer request, pursuant to the process below:
